Four individuals have been apprehended by authorities following an incident where a man in his 50s was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle. The occurrence took place in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, on Monday evening. The driver and a passenger reportedly fled the scene at East Common Lane but were later located by law enforcement. Additionally, two other men who were passengers in the van were also taken into custody.
A police representative mentioned that immediate actions were taken, and the injured man was rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention, where he remains in a critical condition. Subsequently, a van believed to have been present during the accident was spotted by officers on Rochdale Road and was subsequently intercepted. Two individuals fled from the van, leading to a brief pursuit resulting in their detainment. Furthermore, two other individuals found in the van were also apprehended.
Detective Inspector Charmian Bakersmith emphasized the ongoing investigation and reassured the local community about the efforts being made to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. It is believed that the involved parties were acquainted with each other. Law enforcement officers are actively pursuing leads, and a police presence is being maintained at East Common Lane.
The investigation has led to the arrest of four men aged 33, 35, 45, and 53, who are currently in police custody. Authorities urge anyone with relevant information or potential footage of the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
