California Governor Gavin Newsom criticized world leaders for their passive stance towards Donald Trump during the World Economic Forum in Davos. Newsom, a vocal Democrat, expressed disappointment in the way European allies have handled their interactions with Trump, describing it as “embarrassing.” He emphasized the need for leaders to unite and show strength in dealing with the United States.

Newsom highlighted the discrepancy between public statements made to Trump and private sentiments shared among European leaders. He urged them to display more backbone and not succumb to Trump’s tactics of manipulation. Newsom also called for a more principled approach in international diplomacy, emphasizing the importance of standing firm and united.

In a direct challenge to Trump’s upcoming presence at Davos, Newsom emphasized the need for leaders to be resolute and not complicit in enabling Trump’s behavior. He criticized the tendency of some leaders to appease Trump, likening it to submitting to a predator. Newsom warned that continued subservience to Trump could lead to detrimental consequences for Europe.

Newsom concluded by stressing the importance of taking a stand against Trump’s tactics and not allowing themselves to be manipulated any further. He underscored the necessity for a shift in approach towards diplomatic relations with the United States.
