The grieving widow of a “dedicated father” who was struck and killed by a police car in a tragic incident in central London has honored her beloved spouse.

Australian national David Clark met a fatal end after being hit by a marked police vehicle in Borough on January 7. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has launched an investigation into the matter, confirming that two police cars stopped to administer first aid, but unfortunately, Mr. Clark was pronounced dead at the scene.

Expressing her sorrow, Mr. Clark’s wife mentioned that his untimely demise has created an irreplaceable void in their lives, emphasizing her primary focus on caring for their seven-month-old daughter.

Describing her husband as more than just a news headline, she conveyed the profound impact of his loss on their family and friends, highlighting his roles as a loving husband, a devoted father, a son, a brother, and a cherished friend.

The IOPC disclosed details of their probe, identifying Mr. Clark as a 35-year-old Australian residing in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire. The investigation revolves around a fatal road traffic collision involving a Metropolitan Police vehicle and Mr. Clark at Borough High Street.

According to the IOPC’s findings, the incident occurred when two police vehicles responding to an emergency call were traveling south on Borough High Street with sirens and emergency lights activated. The collision with Mr. Clark took place at a junction, leading to the tragic outcome despite immediate aid efforts.

In response to the collision report, the IOPC promptly initiated an independent investigation, reviewing CCTV footage, police body-worn videos, and officer accounts. The investigation is ongoing, with additional CCTV inquiries scheduled near the accident site.

Mrs. Clark expressed gratitude for the support received and requested privacy for her family during this challenging period, emphasizing their commitment to caring for their daughter, supporting each other, and preserving David’s memory away from the public eye.

IOPC Director Amanda Rowe extended condolences to Mr. Clark’s family and friends, assuring ongoing updates on the investigation progress and respecting the family’s privacy request during this difficult time.

To facilitate repatriating Mr. Clark’s remains to Australia, friends of the family have initiated a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe, surpassing £15,000 in donations.
