The well-known model and television personality recently traveled to Dubai alongside her former professional footballer spouse, Peter Crouch, for a holiday with their four children, but their plans took an unexpected turn.
Known for her appearance on Britain’s Next Top Model, the 40-year-old Abbey Clancy experienced a distressing injury that led to her needing a drip after a simple hug with a friend went awry. What was meant to be a friendly gesture turned into excruciating pain that spread throughout her body.
Following the incident, Abbey found herself covered in blood and rushed to the hospital, where she admitted feeling embarrassed by the situation. Recounting the ordeal on The Therapy Crouch podcast she co-hosts with her husband, Abbey described breaking her nail in a seemingly innocuous hug with her friend, resulting in intense pain radiating down her arm and across her body.
The model shared, “I broke my nail. It sounds crazy, and I felt embarrassed going to the hospital. We had a pleasant evening out, returned to our room, had a quick drink, and the kids played. When I went to hug my friend goodnight, my acrylic nail bent back, causing my entire nail to detach, leading to bleeding and nerve pain.”
Abbey further explained how she had to endure hours of pain until a doctor arrived at 3 a.m. to administer pain relief through a drip. Despite feeling the situation sounded unbelievable, she emphasized the intensity of her suffering.
Ultimately, Abbey was taken to the hospital by her friend, where she received treatment from a compassionate doctor who helped alleviate her fear of hospitals. The medical staff provided necessary care, including numbing her hand, and eventually had to remove her nail to address the nerve pain.
In a turn of events, Peter Crouch had to cancel a planned golf outing with friends the next day due to staying up all night supporting his wife. When he informed his pals that Abbey was in the hospital because of a broken nail, they initially thought he was joking, highlighting the unexpected severity of the situation.
