In a lengthy and meandering speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Donald Trump criticized several of America’s allies, such as the UK, Denmark, and Switzerland, raising concerns about his well-being. During the hour-long address, the US President appeared fatigued, slurring his words and struggling to maintain alertness. He expressed discontent about windmills, criticized Europe’s direction, and predicted forthcoming prosecutions related to the alleged election manipulation.

Trump embarked on a tirade accusing Denmark of ingratitude for not surrendering Greenland, a territory the US provided protection to during World War II. His journey to Switzerland was interrupted when Air Force One experienced a minor electrical issue, prompting a return to Andrews Air Force Base and a switch to a backup aircraft for the trip. Due to the delay, Trump bypassed the customary photo opportunity and proceeded directly to deliver his speech.

Delivering his speech to a subdued audience of global dignitaries, Trump’s physical instability was evident, possibly exacerbated by recent extensive travel. He singled out the UK, criticizing its reliance on wind energy and suggesting a decline in energy production. This critique followed UK opposition leader Keir Starmer’s public stance against Trump’s Greenland ambitions.

Trump’s speech also featured a contentious demand for Denmark to relinquish Greenland to the US, citing historical protection and implying Denmark’s incapacity to defend the territory. Despite misidentifying Greenland as Iceland multiple times and exhibiting signs of fatigue, Trump asserted the US’s strength without resorting to force, emphasizing Greenland’s strategic importance for global security.

In a separate incident, Trump recounted a trade dispute with Switzerland over tariffs on Rolex watches, highlighting what he perceived as unfair trade practices benefiting the Swiss. Mocking French President Emmanuel Macron’s sunglasses, Trump drew laughter from the audience, questioning Macron’s eyewear choice amidst light-hearted banter about Macron’s eye condition.

The event showcased Trump’s combative rhetoric towards allies and trading partners, underscoring his unyielding approach to international relations.
