An alleged “unexploded bomb” was reportedly handed over to authorities in Merseyside. Merseyside Police reported that a member of the public arrived at Wallasey Police Station with a suspected WWII bomb around 2:40 pm today, leading to the closure of Manor Road as a safety measure pending further inspection of the device.

While the police station remained operational, the nearby Monkey House Children’s play center was closed. A local resident expressed concerns, stating, “I live right next to the police station, and if anything happens, my house would be the first to go up. I hope they know what they’re doing.” Another resident residing outside the cordoned area mentioned that police advised individuals on Wimbledon Street not to leave their homes, causing some unease in the neighborhood.

Reflecting on a recent incident involving another unexploded bomb in Wirral, a different resident remarked, “This seems to occur frequently now. Just last week, a bomb was discovered on Argyle Street in Birkenhead. It raises questions about the number of undetected bombs in the area.” The resident further expressed concern, especially with the proximity of the situation to a school.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson confirmed the road closures in Wallasey due to a potential unexploded ordnance report on the afternoon of January 12. The spokesperson mentioned that Manor Road closure was a precautionary measure pending further examination of the suspected WWII bomb. The police station remained operational, and investigations were ongoing at the time of the incident.
