Coronation Street fans were surprised to discover that actress Katy Cavanagh, best known for her portrayal of Julie Carp, is the mother of two well-known actors. The 52-year-old actress played Julie on the popular ITV soap from 2008 to 2015 and returned last year for Eileen Grimshaw’s exit storyline.
In a dramatic turn of events, Katy’s character Julie was written out of the show after revealing her cancer diagnosis. Apart from her role in Coronation Street, Katy has also been recognized for her work in The Cops, The Bill, Bob and Rose, and Murder on the Blackpool Express.
However, Katy is not the only talented one in her family. She and her producer husband Chris Jupe are proud parents to three children, including their actor sons Noah, 20, and Jacobi, 12. Both Noah and Jacobi recently appeared in the film Hamnet alongside Jessie Buckley, Paul Mescal, and Joe Alwyn.
In Hamnet, Jacobi portrayed the character of Hamnet Shakespeare, while Noah took on the role of Hamlet. Prior to their roles in Hamnet, Jacobi starred in the Disney film Peter Pan and Wendy as Michael Darling, along with appearances in TV shows like Britannia and Tom Jones. Noah’s acting credits include roles in A Quiet Place, The Undoing, and Ford v Ferrari.
Noah shared in an interview with Variety how his family’s background in the entertainment industry has been beneficial to his career. He emphasized the advantage of having parents who are well-versed in the industry, providing valuable support and insights on set.
Over the weekend, Katy proudly attended the 2026 BAFTA Tea Party in Beverly Hills with her sons. The event celebrates cinematic achievements of the year and precedes the renowned BAFTA Film Awards, often seen as a precursor to the Oscars.
