The Met Office has issued a warning for icy conditions in eight areas, advising residents to take precautions due to potential road disruptions. The yellow ice warning is in effect for parts of northern Scotland from 7pm on Monday until 10am on Tuesday. Forecasters predict that clear skies and light winds will lead to freezing road temperatures, creating icy patches on untreated surfaces.

Residents are urged to exercise caution and leave their homes at least five minutes earlier than usual to prevent accidents. The Met Office emphasized the importance of safety during icy conditions and recommended using main road pavements for walking or biking to reduce slipperiness. It also advised checking road conditions and adjusting travel plans to avoid delays.

The warning covers Angus, Perth and Kinross, Stirling, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Moray, Highland, and Argyll and Bute. No other weather warnings are currently in place nationwide. Elsewhere in the UK, the aftermath of Storm Goretti caused flood warnings due to melting snow and heavy rain.

Storm Goretti brought nearly 100mph gusts and a rare red warning for severe winds in the south-west of England. Several roads in Scotland were blocked by floods or landslides as the snow began to thaw. The A92 in Aberdeenshire and the A9 in Perth and Kinross were closed due to flooding, while a landslide shut down the A815 near Cairndow in Argyll and Bute.

Temperatures are expected to reach around 11C in England and Wales and up to 7C in parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Flood warnings and alerts are active in various regions, with concerns about flooding affecting communities and transportation infrastructure. The cold weather also triggered the UK Government’s cold weather payments scheme to support vulnerable households during the winter season.

Overall, the weather remains unsettled with rain and potential frost in some areas, while Wednesday is expected to be dry and chilly. Wet and windy conditions are forecasted for Thursday, followed by blustery showers on Friday, with milder temperatures in the south.
