According to the government, two individuals then attacked the ICE agent with a snow shovel and broom handle, leading to the agent shooting the man in the leg, citing self-defense.
The DHS, led by Trump ally Kristi Noem, managed to shift blame to the former President, who has been out of the political scene for a year and is undergoing cancer treatment. The DHS statement following the shooting highlighted the involvement of an individual released into the country by Joe Biden in 2022.
