Prince Harry’s former girlfriend, Catherine Ommanney, has responded to allegations that she departed a hotel in Majorca without settling her bill, attributing the incident to a “technical error.”
Ommanney, aged 53, was taken into custody on suspicion of fraud following claims by the Playas del Rey Hotel that she had not paid a bill totaling nearly £450 after a nine-day stay, resulting in a €500 charge. Investigators stated that she provided a credit card with insufficient funds.
Despite the accusations of non-payment, Ommanney vehemently denied the claims, labeling them as untrue. She asserted that the bill had been fully settled and blamed the hotel for a technical mistake, indicating her intention to seek redress through the justice system.
In an interview with the Majorca Daily Bulletin, Ommanney expressed that the situation had been a “nightmare,” clarifying that the bill had been paid via a bank transfer rather than a credit card due to the hotel’s policy. She expressed her dissatisfaction with being detained and emphasized that it was solely a clerical error.
Following her arrest, Ommanney was photographed with a Civil Guard officer en route to a court hearing in Palma. She used a previous surname due to a past marriage during her court appearance.
She was subsequently released on bail pending further investigation, with her lawyer declining to comment on the situation without her approval. The Playas del Rey Hotel receptionist declined to provide a statement, and Ommanney refrained from making any immediate comments upon her release.
Ommanney, known for her role in the Real Housewives of DC, previously disclosed a brief relationship with Prince Harry in 2006. She described their connection as based on mutual understanding and wisdom, highlighting her mature approach compared to younger acquaintances of the Duke of Sussex. Harry has not publicly acknowledged the alleged relationship.
