The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) has addressed the composition of the audience at the Saudi Arabia Darts Masters following comments made by Nathan Aspinall suggesting that not all attendees were there voluntarily.
The tournament kicked off with notable players like Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen, Luke Humphries, and Aspinall competing. Aspinall shared his impressions after defeating Lourence Ilagan in his first match, expressing that the atmosphere was unique and acknowledging the small venue as a starting point for the event.
Responding to Aspinall’s remarks, the PDC clarified that all spectators present were enthusiastic about the event. They explained that many attendees were experiencing live darts for the first time as this was a novel darts event in the region.
Reigning world champion Littler also commented, noting the quieter atmosphere compared to his usual experiences. Despite the difference, he managed to secure a victory. He emphasized the need for a bit of noise and compared the venue to past competitions he participated in.
