The beauty brand Malin + Goetz has entered administration, resulting in the closure of its seven stores in the UK. These stores are located in various areas of London, including Seven Dials, Soho, Spitalfields, Islington, Canary Wharf, Battersea Power Station, and Borough Yards. Over 70 jobs are expected to be affected by this decision.
Malin + Goetz has temporarily halted online orders, with a message on their website informing customers of the situation and promising a return to online sales soon. Despite this setback, customers can still purchase Malin + Goetz products through third-party retailers such as Liberty, John Lewis, and Space NK.
In a statement to TheIndustry.beauty, a spokesperson for Malin+Goetz explained the reasoning behind the administration, citing a thorough review of the business and the exhaustion of all viable options before making this difficult choice. The closure of UK stores and the head office was deemed necessary despite the regrettable impact on employees and customers.
The company’s website is expected to resume operations after a brief maintenance period, although the exact duration is unspecified. Founded in New York in 2004 by Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz, Malin + Goetz initially offered only six products catering to all skin types. Over the years, the brand diversified into fragrance, bodycare, and various beauty categories.
