Timpson, a well-known shoe repair chain, has introduced a new service for trading in mobile phones. Partnering with gadget resell company musicMagpie and AO, Timpson now allows individuals to bring their unwanted smartphones to any Timpson store and receive instant cash. Recent research by Censuswide shows that 73% of adults in the UK have unused smartphones at home, with an average trade-in value of approximately £250, totaling an estimated £10 billion in value.
While various online options exist for reselling smartphones, Timpson aims to cater to customers who prefer face-to-face transactions. The company’s trade-in service is now available in over 1,300 Timpson stores across the United Kingdom. According to John Roberts, the CEO of AO World, the collaboration with musicMagpie has made it easier for customers to trade in old tech and receive quick cash at Timpson locations.
Steve Oliver, the managing director of musicMagpie, expressed excitement about expanding their reach through Timpson stores, while Sid Hubbard, the group director of Timpson, highlighted the added convenience and value this service brings to customers. Timpson, known for its longstanding tradition of repairing goods, is thrilled to extend this service to smartphone trade-ins in partnership with musicMagpie.
