Amateur investigators closely monitoring the ongoing search for Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 in the Indian Ocean believe they have noticed unusual activity from search vessels. The flight disappeared on March 8, 2014, en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board, and its fate remains a major aviation mystery.
A renewed search effort, initiated on December 30 by Ocean Infinity and the Malaysian Government, is underway in a targeted area of the Southern Indian Ocean off Australia’s coast. Specialized equipment such as underwater drones and submersible vehicles are being deployed to survey approximately 5,800 square miles over an estimated 55-day period.
While official updates on the progress of the search have not been provided by Ocean Infinity or Malaysian authorities, a recent observation by a French-speaking YouTube channel, Gilchecksix, has sparked interest. The channel highlighted specific search patterns by one of the vessels, suggesting a focused investigation in a particular area within the search zone, potentially indicating a significant discovery prompting further examination with a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV).
Although speculation abounds, with some suggesting potential crash locations, including near the Australian coast, nothing has been confirmed by the search teams or authorities. Egypt Air’s chief engineer, Ismail Hamad, also offered insights, proposing a possible location for the wreckage based on engineering principles related to aviation fundamentals.
