Apple has officially announced the upcoming release of its latest operating system, set to debut on devices later this year. Dubbed iOS 26 (not the expected iOS 19), this new system boasts a range of fresh features and a revamped aesthetic known as Liquid Glass.
Once installed, users can expect a sleek new interface, including additions like Call Screening to block unwanted calls and automatic removal of spam texts. Additionally, popular Apple apps like Maps and Photos will receive updates.
A notable feature will be the ability to customize snooze durations for alarms, ranging from 1 to 15 minutes, offering users greater flexibility in managing their daily routines.
While the exact launch date for iOS 26 remains undisclosed, it is anticipated to roll out on compatible devices in September. For eager users unwilling to wait, Apple has announced the availability of the Public Beta starting next month, enabling early access for testing and feedback before the global release.
According to Apple, new public betas for various software versions, including iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, tvOS 26, HomePod software 26, watchOS 26, and AirPods Firmware, are on the horizon. Interested individuals can join the Apple Beta Software Programme to contribute feedback and enhance the software prior to its official release.
To participate in the beta testing, users can sign up on the official Apple Beta Software Programme website. However, Apple advises against installing the beta on primary devices due to potential bugs and issues inherent in pre-release versions. This early testing phase allows Apple to address any imperfections with the help of user feedback.
While no specific release time has been announced for the iOS 26 beta, more details are expected to follow soon. Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, expressed excitement about iOS 26’s new design and enhanced features, emphasizing the system’s improved user experiences and productivity through Apple Intelligence integration.
