Twelve regions across the United Kingdom are preparing for significant snowfall and a drop in temperatures later this month, based on the most recent weather data. New weather charts from forecasters WXCharts indicate that wintry conditions are set to sweep through the UK on January 15.

The most substantial snowfall is expected in central Scotland, with snow depths projected to reach up to 28cm in Cairngorms National Park. Northern and central Scotland could see snow accumulations ranging from 3cm to 27cm.

Southern Scotland is likely to experience lighter snowfall of up to 2cm, while the Lake District is forecasted to receive around 1cm of snow. The coldest temperatures are anticipated in central Scotland, with temperatures plummeting to a bone-chilling -8C in Cairngorms National Park. Cities in Scotland like Aberdeen and Glasgow are expected to have temperatures ranging from -1C to -7C.

Northern England is expected to have temperatures varying from 0C to -2C, while the rest of England, Wales, and Northern Ireland will experience milder conditions with temperatures between 1C and 5C, as reported by the Express.

The Met Office’s outlook for the upcoming period states: “Changeable and occasionally unsettled conditions are expected across the UK during this time. Low-pressure systems moving in from the Atlantic are likely to dominate, resulting in showers or longer periods of rain for much of the UK.

“Heavy rain or showers are expected at times, particularly across high ground in the west where rainfall totals are likely to be highest. Strong winds or gales may occur, especially around coasts if any deep low-pressure areas develop near the UK.

“There is a likelihood of brief spells of mainly dry weather between weather systems. Temperatures are predicted to be close to or slightly above average for this time of year overall.”
