Marie Albrecht, Aline Morisoli, and Solal Heimendinger, who experienced the disaster firsthand, shared their stories on stage during the ceremony at the “Le Régent” convention center in Martigny, Switzerland. The event, attended by approximately 1,000 individuals, including families of the deceased, first responders, and dignitaries, marked a national day of mourning following the devastating fire at Le Constellation bar in Crans-Montana, which claimed the lives of 40 people, including 20 children, and left 116 others injured.
Expressing her emotions, Marie Albrecht recounted the harrowing experience, stating, “We initially visited the bar for a final drink that evening, but it quickly turned into a nightmare. The scenes we witnessed were beyond comprehension.” Aline Morisoli reflected on the challenges faced by their generation, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and fighting for a better future. Solal Heimendinger extended gratitude to the emergency services and medical staff, acknowledging their heroic efforts during the crisis.
During the service, President of the Valais State Council Mathias Reynard offered condolences to the families of the victims and pledged a thorough investigation into the incident.
