A young man discovered his mother had passed away on Christmas morning. The previous day, Louise McKenzie, 38, had visited a doctor and received a diagnosis of pancreatitis. Despite being reassured by the doctor, she and her son Reece Barrett, 18, finished their last-minute holiday shopping before returning home in Bootle, Merseyside.
Louise began feeling unwell, experiencing dizziness and a headache, prompting her to rest. Reece recounted to the Liverpool Echo that he went out with friends that night but returned home after his mother called him. Finding her asleep upstairs, he bid her goodnight and discovered her lifeless the next morning in the bathroom.
Reece attempted CPR upon realizing his mother had passed away, but unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities were called to ensure no foul play was involved. Reece, a civil servant, fondly remembered his mother as a caring and humorous person who had been more confined in recent years due to his work commitments and caring for their pet dog.
The cause of Louise’s death was believed to be a brain hemorrhage. Reece is currently residing with his girlfriend’s family as he makes plans for his future living arrangements with their dog, Virgil. Reflecting on the situation, Reece regretted not recognizing the symptoms earlier and expressed gratitude for the support received through a GoFundMe campaign set up by his girlfriend’s mother to assist him during this challenging time.
