Lando Norris wasted no time in seeking out his stylish partner Margarida Corceiro following his triumph as the Formula 1 champion. Engaging in affectionate gestures amidst the crowd, the British racer was captured sharing kisses and hugs with the Portuguese model before stepping onto the podium to commemorate his victory over rivals Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Only needing a third-place finish at the Yas Marina Circuit to secure the championship, Norris maintained his composure despite briefly relinquishing second place to his teammate and competitor Piastri early in the race. Charles Leclerc added pressure towards the end, but his Ferrari’s pace dwindled, granting Norris a clear path to the finish line and the coveted title.
Overwhelmed with emotion, Norris expressed his gratitude to his team over the radio, tearfully acknowledging their role in fulfilling his dreams. Upon exiting his car, he embraced his parents and shared a poignant moment with Corceiro, his girlfriend. The couple had recently confirmed their rekindled relationship after years of an on-and-off connection.
Corceiro, a familiar figure in the public eye, has garnered increased attention this season, contributing to the heightened interest in the partners of F1 drivers. Following the Singapore Grand Prix, where partners were prominently featured on screen during the live broadcast, Norris’s former teammate Carlos Sainz criticized the focus on WAGs, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing competition coverage.
Reflecting on his achievement, an emotional Norris remarked on the challenging journey to success, expressing gratitude to his McLaren team, family, and competitors Verstappen and Piastri. Acknowledging the unpredictability of racing, he credited his relentless determination and loyalty to McLaren over the years, underscoring his pride in contributing to the team’s success.
