An interactive map has unveiled the extensive impact of the Pizza Hut closures across UK high streets, with one region set to lose seven out of its nine restaurants. Administrators have disclosed the closure locations of 68 Pizza Hut establishments as the popular dining chain faces economic challenges. Alongside the restaurant closures, 11 delivery sites will also cease operations, putting 1,210 jobs at risk. This restructuring initiative will result in only 64 Pizza Hut restaurants remaining operational in the UK.
The Greater Manchester area is notably affected, with seven out of the nine existing Pizza Hut locations earmarked for closure, leaving only the outlets at the Trafford Centre and in Manchester city centre. A similar trend is observed in Greater London, where nine Pizza Huts in outer boroughs will shut down, leaving only three in central London and one at the Bluewater shopping center.
In contrast, the East Midlands region has been spared from the closure wave, with Pizza Hut restaurants in Lincoln, Nottingham, Mansfield, Thurmaston, and Leicester set to remain open. The company overseeing Pizza Hut’s dine-in restaurants in the UK, DC London Pie, has appointed administrators to navigate these challenging times. Yum! Brands, the parent company of Pizza Hut globally, has acquired the UK restaurant operation in a pre-pack administration deal, securing the future of 64 sites.
Directional Capital, which took over 139 Pizza Hut restaurants in January 2025, safeguarded 3,000 jobs following the collapse of the previous operator, Heart with Smart Limited. DC London Pie, established by Directional Capital, was entrusted to operate Pizza Hut restaurants in the UK. The first Pizza Hut in the UK opened its doors in 1973 in Islington, London, eventually expanding to over 260 restaurants nationwide with a workforce of 10,000 employees.
Despite the closures, Pizza Hut asserts its commitment to operating in the UK through a combination of company-owned and franchise restaurants. Currently, the brand has 351 delivery Huts serving customers across the UK, Northern Ireland, and Ireland, in addition to the 64 acquired dine-in sites resulting from the recent acquisition deal.
