A woman successfully contested a £100 parking fine for slightly crossing a white line with her Mini at an NCP car park in Newark, Nottingham. Lisa Henderson, aged 56, paid for an hour but left after 30 minutes. She was surprised to receive the fine two weeks later, accompanied by photos showing her car’s front tyre slightly over the parking bay’s white line.

Expressing her frustration, the mother of two pointed out that her car was minimally over the line and not obstructing any other parking space. After appealing to NCP, the company agreed to revoke the fine. Lisa, relieved but irked by the situation, found the fine unwarranted and initially thought it was a joke.

NCP spokesperson Michelle McCarthy emphasized the importance of parking within designated spaces to avoid inconveniencing other customers. Violating parking bay markings, even slightly, can result in penalties. Motorists should ensure their vehicles are entirely within the white markings to avoid fines or parking charges.

Parking outside designated bays or on markings can lead to penalty notices. If a vehicle is too large for a standard bay, drivers should find suitable alternative parking. It is essential to follow specific rules and signs within the car park to avoid penalties for incorrect parking practices.
