Following an incident at a recent JoJo Siwa concert in Glasgow, a fan has issued an apology for wearing a controversial hoodie. Anjali Kalsi, aged 17, faced backlash from the audience after JoJo Siwa accused her of mocking her by sporting a hoodie featuring a design of the singer’s face shaped like an egg.

In 2022, JoJo Siwa disclosed that she had suffered a bald spot due to the stress induced during her time on the reality show Dance Moms as a child. She shared how online trolls began creating hurtful memes about her hairline.

Reacting to the hoodie incident at the concert, JoJo Siwa expressed her disapproval stating, “The hoodie poking fun at me? Absolutely not! We only have space for infinite hearts here, right? Not in my house, baby. We have no tolerance for that.”

Anjali has since clarified her actions, explaining that she was unaware of the context behind the image on the hoodie. She posted a video apologizing to JoJo for the misunderstanding.

In a TikTok video, she elaborated, “We didn’t have any official merchandise, so we thought it would be amusing to print out a picture and wear it on our clothes. We assumed JoJo, known for her humor, would find it funny as well. We simply searched for a ‘funny JoJo Siwa picture’ and used the first result without checking its origin.”

Anjali and her friend had been at the concert for 45 minutes when JoJo noticed their attire and inquired about it. They tried to lighten the mood by displaying their hoodies to make her laugh.

Upon JoJo’s request, they handed over the clothing, assuming she would find it humorous. However, JoJo did not share their amusement and subsequently asked them to leave, returning the hoodie before escorting them out.

Distressed by the incident, Anjali recounted feeling panicked as she had never been ejected from a concert before. She mentioned that in other shows she attended, fans often brought funny props and images.

Anjali’s mother, Lizzie, shared that her daughter faced online abuse from trolls after the incident went viral. Trolls left hurtful comments, with one remarking, “I would have given up long ago if I looked like you from birth.” Anjali, wanting to express regret, sent an apology video to JoJo, which reportedly went unanswered.

Reflecting on the aftermath, Anjali’s mother expressed concern over the negative impact on her daughter, including being booed by the crowd, unintentionally hurting someone, and facing social media backlash.

The Mirror has reached out to representatives of JoJo Siwa for their response to the incident.
