The British equestrian community is in mourning following the tragic death of a rider, Sarah Yorke, who passed away after falling from her horse during the Aston-le-Walls Horse Trials in Northamptonshire. Despite immediate medical attention at the scene, she could not be saved, as confirmed by British Eventing officials. Fortunately, her horse, MGH HERA, was unharmed and safely returned to the stables.

In response to the incident, British Eventing officials made the decision to cancel the remainder of the competition, which included dressage, cross-country, and show jumping phases. Yorke, a previous winner, was participating in the BE100 class with her seven-year-old horse for the first time.

Rosie Williams, the Chief Executive of British Eventing, offered heartfelt condolences to Sarah’s family and friends on behalf of the entire eventing community. The governing body of the sport announced a comprehensive review would be conducted, and the BE Support Trust helpline was made available for those affected by the tragedy.

The British Eventing Support Trust, in collaboration with Sporting Chance, is providing assistance and support to anyone in need during this challenging period. Mental health professionals are accessible by calling 07780 008877 at any time for those seeking help.
