Former Loose Women panelist Carol McGiffin criticized her colleague Kaye Adams for deceiving others about her age, labeling it as “tragic.” Adams recently confessed to fabricating her age to appear younger than she actually is.
In an article for the Daily Mail, Adams, aged 62, expressed how society often marginalizes women as they age. She acknowledged that her actions were influenced by society’s negative perceptions of older women.
Adams revealed that she had misled even her own children, Charly, 23, and Bonnie, 18, about her age for years. The deception unraveled when Charly searched for Adams on Google after a dispute with a friend.
Carol, 65, a former Loose Women presenter, disclosed that she was aware of Adams’ true age and described the decision to lie about one’s age as “tragic.” She emphasized the importance of embracing one’s age and not succumbing to societal pressures to appear younger.
Carol humorously mentioned her own reluctance to disclose her age for practical reasons like navigating drop-down menus, but she emphasized that pretending to be younger is ultimately disheartening.
Adams now openly celebrates her age, a shift that Carol appreciates, although she jokes about Adams’ constant enthusiasm about being in her sixties. In addition to her television work, Adams hosts the podcast How To Be 60.
