A mother in Stockport is staying ahead of the game with her Christmas preparations, having already wrapped over £2,000 worth of gifts for her family.
Charlotte Chandler, a mother of three, started organizing festive presents for her children – Harley, 14, Evie, 13, and Myles, 6 – as early as June. By planning well in advance, she aims to alleviate the stress that typically comes during the winter season.
Explaining her strategy, the 36-year-old stated, “Starting early makes a significant difference. I usually kick off in June after my daughter’s birthday, but sometimes I begin even earlier.”
Drawing from her own childhood experiences, Charlotte shared, “Seeing my mom struggle during the holiday rush motivated me to plan ahead. I want to avoid the panic and enjoy the festive season with my kids.”
By purchasing two 7-foot tall cupboards for just £40 to store the gifts, Charlotte has already bought 40 presents each for Evie and Myles, while Harley has five gifts so far due to his indecisiveness.
Charlotte mentioned, “I’ve spent around £2,000 already. I’m confident my kids will love the gifts as I know their preferences. I’ve set aside some money for last-minute items for my eldest.”
To enhance the festive spirit, Charlotte has been gradually adding £10 per week to her grocery budget to purchase Christmas snacks in advance, including popular treats like Celebrations, nuts, and snacks to ensure a stress-free and enjoyable holiday season.
